Drinking water

This fresh blue water tank is installed at a prison in Panama. It has a diameter of 5,49 meter and it is 3,81 meter high. This 90 m3 water tank stores drinking water for the inmates of the prison.

Metal cover

The water tank is covered by a metal roof. This is our most robust covering system, fully covering a water tank. It is a good system to cover water and other liquids that need a high protection from contamination and evaporation. A galvanised roof also provides protection against all types of weather.

The client chose the tank to be this high because of the metal cover. As customers aim to balance cost-effectiveness while optimising their storage needs, in case of a metal covering system they often select the smallest tank diameter possible for the amount of water that needs to be stored. Therefore it is common to see metal covers on water tanks that are relatively high.

Blue water tank

NPI International supplied the water tank in the natural, metal colour and the customer painted the water tank blue. Since the water tank is located close to the sea, the metal gets in contact with salt from the sea wind and rain. While our galvanised MagiZinc® is quite resistant against salt air, these salt particles can contribute to the corrosion of the steel. A high-quality coating is the best way to help the galvanised steel fight the sea breeze. Therefore it is a must in coastal areas to get the metal panels coated; customers can opt for precoated steel panels or paint the panels themselves, just like this client did.
