This month, we lined an excavated basin in Zeeland with 15,000 m² of ENPEX FPP. Situated in a meadow, the basin was prepared by a contractor who partially excavated the ground and created earthen walls to form the basin’s slopes. The result is a triangular-shaped reservoir designed for agricultural use.
ENPEX FPP
Our two-man welding team traveled to Zeeland to line the basin with ENPEX FPP. This flexible, durable, and UV-resistant liner is the number-one choice for lining basins, ensuring a long-lasting and completely waterproof lining.
Prefabrication for precision
The liner was prefabricated in six panels at our production facility under ideal conditions. Given the triangular shape of the reservoir, our production team worked with precise measurements to create panels that would fit perfectly.
On-site installation
On-site, the liner was carefully placed into the basin using a spreader bar. The rolls of liner, wound around a core, were lifted by inserting the steel spreader bar into the core and attaching it to a crane arm with chains. This method ensures the liner is safely and smoothly placed into position. From there, with the help of 40 assisting hands, the large panels were unrolled and unfolded across the basin.
Our two-man team leaded the unrolling and unfolding of the film and after they took charge of welding the panels together. They also installed several in-/outlets and completed the project by installing 530 meters of embankment protection.
Supporting agriculture
In the most southwestern province of the Netherlands, Zeeland, some areas suffer from severe soil salinization, making groundwater unusable for irrigation, when they need it during dry periods. To address this challenge, a local farmer decided to construct a basin to collect and store rainwater for irrigating the fields.
