Lining basins at the Afsluitdijk, the Netherlands

NPI is pleased to have contributed to the renewal project of the Afsluitdijk! This world-famous major dam and causeway in the Netherlands is being renovated, part of a 6-year project commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat.

We lined temporary sludge basins near Den Oever, a village located at west end of the Afsluitdijk. The sludge that is pumped up from the IJsselmeer to create space for underwater structures is stored in these basins to settle it. It will eventually be drained and the remaining water will be returned to the IJsselmeer.
