Water for olives and citruses, Greece

Header

In the sunny hills of Greece, two metal water tanks were installed close to each other by our dealer. One tank was installed for the irrigation of olive trees and the other for citrus trees.

Water scarcity in hot Greek summers

During the hot Greek summers, rain is extremely scarce, so many growers rely on stored water to irrigate their trees. Pumping water directly from the well comes with risks, such as pump failure, well depletion or inconsistent water supply. Constant pumping can also be expensive due to high energy costs.

These tanks are installed in a relatively high place and filled with drilled water via a pump. This ensures a readily available water supply that is safer and more cost-effective, also providing more peace of mind during the dry season.

Cover for water quality preservation

Both water tanks are covered with a tensioned anti-algae cover, supported by a center pole. While rain is rare in summer, sudden showers can still occur in other seasons. The raised center helps prevent sagging when rainwater does collect, protecting the cover, the tank and the water and keeping it in good condition all year round.
