New greenhouse facility

Four steel water tanks with a height of 4,56 meters and a diameter of ca. 4 meters were installed at a new greenhouse facility in South-Korea. This is one of the new greenhouse complexes that were constructed the past few years in South-Korea, where they aim to update the horticulture sector. Korean government’s efforts to promote high-tech horticulture raised awareness of glasshouse horticulture.

Properties of the water tanks

With a height of 4,56 meters, large amounts of water can be stored while the ground surface area is kept limited. The bottom rings of these water tanks are coated and partially buried for respectively extra protection and stability. The water tanks are equipped with anti-algae covers to minimize evaporation and to make sure no dirt can enter the tank.

Reclycing of water

Recycling of water also received more attention and in recent years; horticulture production in South Korea is getting more sustainable. Our dealer is a renowned glass house construction company that provides greenhouse solutions from A to Z. Their water systems also include water storage, with NPI steel water tanks playing the main role. Steel water tanks are a perfect solution for storing and reusing water, because through a closed-loop system they allow water to be collected after use and stored again. This collected water can be treated and reused, making sure that every drop is utilized effectively. Using water tanks also allows for great control over water quality.

Lettuce

Lettuce and other leafy vegetables are very popular in South Korea because they are widely eaten. Popular types include cabbage, which is used to make kimchi, and lettuces used in barbecues or as side dishes. Growing lettuce and leafy greens in a greenhouse helps control their growing conditions better.
