Self-sufficiency throughout the year
Our Portugese dealer recently installed this water tank for rainwater collection at a private property in the mountains nearby Faro. This family has a strong connection to nature and is committed to self-sufficiency. Therefore they try to maximise rainwater collection to ensure they have enough water supply. In wintertime the family aims to collect rainwater to save water from the boreholes. In summer, the drier months of the year, the collected water serves as irrigation water for crops and as water supply to the main residence.
Biological cultivation
This family has a garden with an area where they cultivate their own vegetables and fruits without using any chemicals. This water tank plays an important role in watering their homegrown produce. The family also treats some of the water in the house and they use this water for cooking, flushing toilets, showering and washing.
Rainwater harvesting
Domestic rainwater harvesting is a practice where homeowners collect and reuse rainwater for various purposes in and around their homes. It is an effective and eco-friendly method to decrease water consumption at home, resulting in lower water charges. Usually, the rainwater is collected from the rooftops. Rainwater collection is not only good for the environment but also economically sustainable. A reliable system for storing rainwater is crucial in this process. This is where NPI comes in: with our steel water tanks we turn free rainwater from the sky into a valuable resource.
Technical details of the water tank
