One of our customers in Tunisia is one of world’s leading tomato growers. Because of constant expansion of operations and geological challenges in the regio they are located, the replacement market is considerable. NPI has supplied this customer with over 100 water tanks throughout the years.
Geological conditions
The grower operates in a desert landscape, that has a high salt concentration. This leads to more rapid oxidation of the steel and therefore it is important to configure the tanks in a way they can better withstand the conditions. Think of powder-coating the inside and outside of the steel for extra corrosion protection, increasing metal plate thickness and using the thickest lining material. All to extend the tank’s lifetime in desert conditions.
Supervision
For the installation of this water tank two technical specialists of NPI travelled to Tunesia to provide supervision. As said, the area is geologically quite demanding. That is why they chose to install the water tanks together and to inspect older water tanks. This way a valuable opportunity was created for both customer and NPI to exchange knowledge and to tackle challenges. Topics such as materials, installation and maintenance were discussed. We look forward to supporting this customer with many more water storage systems in the future!
