Steel water tanks at a new greenhouse facility

These steel water tanks have a height of 4,56 meters and a diameter of ca. 4 meters. They were installed in a new greenhouse facility in South-Korea. It is one of the new greenhouse facilities that were constructed the past few years in South-Korea, where they aim to update the horticulture sector. Korean government’s efforts to promote high-tech horticulture raised awareness of glasshouse horticulture.

Reclycing of water

Recycling of water also received more attention and in recent years, horticulture production in South Korea is getting more sustainable. Our South Korean dealer is a renowned glass house construction company that provides solutions covering the complete process from constructing glasshouses to consultancy for cultivation. Their water systems also include water storage, with NPI steel water tanks playing the main role. Our steel water tanks are the perfect solution for storing and reusing water, because through a closed-loop system they allow water to be collected after use and stored again. This collected water can be treated and reused, making sure that every drop is utilised effectively.

Properties of the water tanks

The bottom rings of the water tanks were ordered precoated for two of the water tanks. Of the other two tanks the customer painted the bottom rings. The water tanks are located outdoors and the bottom ring is partially buried in, so the steel of the bottom rings is in contact with the soil. In this situation, coating the bottom rings the tank is an absolute must, as the soil retains moisture or substances that may cause corrosion over time. We always advise customers to get the bottom ring panels of the water tanks coated or painted, since it protects the steel against the elements and rust. It extends the lifetime of the water tank.
