Large-scale aquaponic farm
This large-scale aquaponic farm in France markets 40 tonnes of fish (perch) and 60 tonnes of vegetables (aromatic plants, spinach and salads). The company aims to prepare for the future by offering fresh products locally, with minimal environmental impact. To feed the population, aquaponics has quickly established itself as a sustainable farming method, changing the way we grow our food.
Aquaponics
Aquaponics is a food farming system, where fish farming meets vegetable cultivation. Both happen in a closed-loop system whereby the nutrient-rich aquaculture water is fed to hydroponically grown plants. This allows for efficient resource use, with fish waste providing essential nutrients for plant growth. In turn, the plants help purify the water, which is recirculated back to the fish tanks. This sustainable farming approach minimizes waste and maximizes production.
Water storage tank
Through our dealer, we supplied a water storage tank to this aquaponic farm. A rainwater recovery system allows the farm to harvest rainwater from greenhouse roofs and to store it. Water treatment systems are connected to the tank. These treatment processes include filtration and treatment to convert fish waste into nutrients for plants.
